Old School RuneScape: Sorceress's Garden Guide

Why steal a couple of gp from a random person when you can steal from a magic garden instead? Training Thieving in Old School RuneScape is normally completed by stealing from stalls or pickpocketing NPCs. However, you can also steal the fruit from the Sorceress's Garden and give it to Osman in Al Kharid.

The Sorceress's Garden hosts four different mazes you can traverse for the opportunity to gain a decent amount of Thieving experience and a random assortment of herbs. Without entering combat or taking damage, this minigame allows low-level players to stock up on Herblore supplies without needing to train their combat stats.

Sorceress's Garden Overview

You can reach the Sorceress's Garden by talking to the Apprentice in the small house in the southeast portion of Al Kharid. She will teleport you to the garden, where you will find four different sections to choose from.

Each of the four sections represents the seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn. They also have their Thieving level requirement to access.

The goal for each portion of the Sorceress's Garden is the same: traverse the maze without being spotted by the Elementals that patrol the space and steal from the tree in the center. Optionally, if you do not care for the Thieving experience, you can go to the herb patch and take two random herbs instead.

The path for each maze never changes, so it is safe to memorize the optimal route for each maze and where the spirits will look. Each time you steal a fruit/(two) herbs, you will be teleported back to the start, where you can begin another run of the garden.

There are two "Sq'irkin'" Worlds (Worlds 523 and 524) that you can use to complete the minigame with other people. Since the Elementals can only teleport one player at a time, a mass group of people can effectively run through a maze simultaneously, with the majority getting through without having to hide.

These worlds can drastically improve experience rates and should be utilized if possible. If not, you will need to complete the routes independently, ensuring you are stepping in the right direction.

Sorceress's Garden Gear Setup

Since you will be running a lot through the Sorceress's Garden, you should wear the best weight-reducing gear you have. The Graceful outfit is your best option due to its run regeneration properties.

In your inventory, you will need a Pestle and Mortar, along with Beer Glasses, to convert the fruit you collect into their associated Sq'irkjuice (more on them in the "Rewards" section). Bringing at least one or two Stamina Potions is highly recommended, as they restore a portion of your run energy while reducing your energy drain rate for two minutes.

Winter Garden Strategy

The Winter Garden is considered the easiest of the four. You will need to avoid only four elementals to make it through.

Although there are six elementals in total, the two elementals on the south side of the garden do not need to be passed at all. Instead, prepare to head north.

Run to spot two when the elemental rounds the corner away from you.

While the elemental may see you, it won't be able to spot you in spot three. As the elemental rounds the corner, run here, making sure not to accidentally click through the walk, causing you to run to the other side.

Keep an eye on both Elementals. As the west-most Elemental travels away from you (and when the previous Elemental isn't looking in your direction), trail behind it, standing in the corridor.

When the north-most Elemental travels down its path, you can run towards the tree, collecting the fruit to start over. If you want to collect the herb, go to the patch on the opposite end.

Spring Garden Strategy

A bit trickier than the Winter Garden, the Spring Garden has multiple corners you can wedge yourself in to hide. While there are technically two routes to get to the tree, the one described here is far easier.

At the start, wait for the Elemental to travel away from you and run to this opening against the wall.

When the Elemental goes past you towards the Garden entrance, run to the end of the wall, standing where the two nearby Elementals won't be able to spot you. Be careful not to click too far or you will be spotted by the Elemental circling around the smaller wall.

Take your time here because it can take a couple of attempts to get through at first. Wait until the two Elementals closest to you line up, circling away from you at the same time, while the third Elemental next to spot three is traveling away. When you get the chance, run past all three of them and go to spot three.

Keep an eye on the Elemental closest to the tree entrance. When the previous Elemental isn't looking, you can run east, rounding the corner to spot four when it isn't looking.

Be mindful of the two Elementals near you, running to the tree when both look away.

Autumn Garden Strategy

The trickiest of the four gardens, the Autumn garden has a lot of tight corners that demand you to know exactly what you are doing to reach it.

At the start of the garden, standing behind the small barricade, watching where the closest Elementals are located.

Once the Elemental is looking away, run to spot two.

When you find an opening, run past the Elemental and go to spot three. Despite the other Elemental turning in your direction to turn around, it will not spot you.

Quickly run to this spot when the Elemental looks away.

Quickly run to this spot when the Elemental heads north.

Wait until the two closest Elementals are in sync with each other, turning away at the same time. Then, click on the corridor entrance just a tile away from the south-most Elemental's path. Be careful not to over-click, and you will not be spotted here.

Making sure the Elemental next to spot seven isn't heading your direction, you can follow the Elemental closest to you until you can round the corner, running to spot seven.

When the Elemental closest to you and the Elemental next to the tree entrance travel away from you, you can run through the corridor to reach the tree.

Summer Garden Strategy

The Summer Garden is the highest level garden available, rewarding you with the most Thieving experience. While you can travel through here one step at a time to play it safe, a "one-click" method allows you to traverse the garden in a single click to earn an even better Thieving experience per hour.

At the starting location, wait until the Elemental travels away before running between the two bushes to the west wall.

Run around the bush to spot two when the Elemental travels towards the garden entrance.

As this Elemental travels south, you can run through the path, staying against the wall until you reach spot three. The approaching Elemental won't be able to spot you.

As the closest Elemental looks away, round the corner to spot four.

The upcoming Elemental travels in a "figure-eight" path around the two bushes. Carefully follow behind it until you reach spot five, where neither nearby Elementals can spot you.

When the east-most Elemental travels north, run to spot six.

After the Elemental travels past you and the Elemental closest to the tree entrance travels away, you can follow it on its path to spot seven.

When you're in the clear, run to spot eight to reach the tree.

Summer Garden One-Click Method

Before you can complete the Summer Garden in a single click, you must ensure that each Elemental is in the proper position. Specifically, ensure the two Elementals circled above touch and simultaneously turn the nearby walls.

If they don't, you can purposely get caught by one of them, delaying their positioning by a tick to get them into position.

Once they are in sync and start to hit the walls simultaneously every minute, wait until the Elemental closest to the entrance travels all the way south, then head north one to two tiles before clicking on the tree. The other Elementals may catch you a few times, but this is necessary to get the others into position.

If done correctly, you will run past (and sometimes through) the Elementals and reach the tree in a single click. Quickly go back to the starting position and wait to run again (both Elementals turn at the same time, the closest Elemental travels south, then north two tiles before you click on the tree again).

Thieving Experience & Rewards From Sorceress's Garden

After collecting two of the same fruit, they can be crushed with a Pestle and Mortar into a beer glass to turn into Sq'irkjuice. While Sq'irkjuice can be drunk to gain Thieving and Agility boosting properties, they can be turned into Osman (in front of Al Kharid Castle) for a high amount of Thieving experience.

If you are collecting herbs, nearly every herb up to Ranarrs can be collected from the herb patches in the gardens. Since it is a random herb, it is only recommended for Ironman attempting to gather herbs to train Herblore or if you are attempting to make a little bit of money.

If you have OSRS gold and OSRS items, you might want to consider sticking to more consistent money-making methods, like flipping items on the Grand Exchange, Slayer tasks, or bossing, depending on what you're looking to achieve.

Are you aiming to focus on more profit-driven activities in OSRS or are you considering training certain skills, like Herblore or Thieving, in a more relaxed way?
