As I find myself drawn back into the mesmerizing world of Elden Ring, I'm reminded of both the exhilarating highs and the daunting challenges that await within its sprawling landscapes. As a devoted fan of the Souls series, my love for the game is undeniable, yet my tendency to succumb to anxiety-driven gaming hiatuses has often left me with unfinished adventures. Now, with the announcement of the DLC reigniting my passion, I've once again taken up the mantle of the Tarnished, ready to confront the trials that lie ahead.
My return to Elden Ring wasn't without its stumbling blocks. Like a clumsy traveler, I made missteps along the way, inadvertently causing the demise of the big blacksmith and feeling a pang of regret at his loss. Yet, amidst the setbacks, I found solace in the familiarity of the game's mechanics and the thrill of rediscovering its intricacies.
One of my first challenges was reconciling my flawed build with my desired playstyle. With a focus on dexterity and wielding formidable katanas, I sought guidance on optimizing my talismans and runes to complement my chosen path. It was a journey of trial and error, but with Rennala's aid in resetting my stats, I found renewed clarity in my approach.
Navigating the vast expanse of Elden Ring's world proved to be equally daunting. Despite my previous explorations, I found myself at a loss, uncertain of which quests remained unfinished and which secrets still lay hidden. The sheer magnitude of the game's scope was both exhilarating and overwhelming, leading me to ponder whether it might be best to relinquish my quest for completion and embrace the journey instead.
As the hours ticked by and my adventure unfolded, I encountered formidable foes that tested my resolve like never before. From the deathly blight tentacles of Farum Azula to the spectral knights of Sol Castle, each encounter pushed me to the brink of defeat. Yet, with each setback, I persevered, drawing upon the lessons learned from countless boss battles to overcome even the most insurmountable odds.
Despite the challenges that lie ahead, I find myself filled with a sense of gratitude and anticipation. Elden Ring may be a game of immense difficulty and complexity, but it's also a testament to the power of perseverance and the joy of discovery. So, as I continue my journey through its unforgiving landscapes, I do so with a renewed sense of purpose and a deep appreciation for the adventure that awaits.
In the end, it's not about reaching the end of the road or achieving perfect completion—it's about embracing the struggle, relishing the journey, and finding solace in the knowledge that every step forward is a victory in itself. And for that, I am grateful to be back in the world of Elden Ring once more. June 21st, 2024, Shadow of the Erdtree released and ready to go.
