Why is everyone playing Final Fantasy XIV Right Now?

If you're a fan of gaming or even online chances are you've seen this quote in the last few days. New players are moving over to Final Fantasy XIV so that queues for servers that used to be 20-30 players long have now gotten close to 50-60. To combat this, the developers have created a 30-minute timer that deletes players who are not playing after the latest patch.

They also issued an official statement regarding the recent surge in players. This was all done to try and ease the server's load that the game is experiencing. However, one must ask what is the reason for so many players going to Final Fantasy XIV?

The game's base, A Realm Reborn, was made available in 2013. it's odd to be reviving in 2021. Naturally, the possibility to have two games for free is an advantage of the resurgence of FFXIV. But there appears to be more going on. The most mentioned event is the new World of Warcraft expansion Shadowlands.

In Eorzea In Eorzea, you're bound to meet a lot of players who call themselves "World of Warcraft refugees". As a strictly FFXIV player, I could not help but be interested and seek out the minds of these refugees.

Why are people quitting World of Warcraft?

The wide range of issues led players to move to switch from WoW through FFXIV. Some people are unhappy with a narrative that seemed uninspired. Others believe that many of the game's elements were time-wasters instead of meaningful gameplay. This, in addition to the lengthy wait between the launch of Shadowlands and the initial patch, caused many players to be unhappy.

It's simple, WoW and Blizzard aren't offering what players want. Many examples of this can be found in the WoW subreddit for instance, whether it's messages that were left out of the game by development or disappointing customer service.

A Warm and Friendly Community

A few of the reasons for joining FFXIV were more abstract. One user mentioned that they made friends more easily within FFXIV than they did in WoW. After making friends with ease they were able to participate in various FFXIV social networks. One of these was joining the Free Company (the guild system in the FFXIV). Another option was to create an undefined (an established group of eight players) to run difficult and high-level content. The whole time they had fun with their many friends in the game.

The players of FFXIV were praised extensively throughout my research for this piece. From tales of being guided through dungeons with difficulty when they first started playing the game, to tales of being given hundreds of thousands of gold randomly by generous players.

The players have really come out to welcome the new members to their community. A number of female and LGBTQ players expressed being particularly included in the community. They were also happy to see their own community playing in high-level, difficult dark dungeons. All of this is a part to create a truly enjoyable and welcoming game.

Fun for people who don't Like MMOs

A recurring point that FFXIV had its advantages was its accessibility. Friends from real life, who previously had no interest interested in MMOs, were able to play the game. Even those who weren't MMO gamers could join their peers in their own MMO adventure. Since the majority of us were in quarantine the past year it was a fantastic way to make players! It was cheap or, if playing on trial, they were free to play.

As FFXIV features a broad range of dungeons that are suited to different levels of skill (ranging from the simple to the very difficult) it was a game that even the least experienced friends could play with and enjoy.

Some players said that the design of the game was more appealing to their tastes. From the anime-adjacent fantasy universe to the vast array of characters that can be customized. It was a breath of fresh air. You can make your character distinctive through the ability to create and even glamour The single-player story is a hit with many gamers in ways that WoW didn't. A player once said, WoW isn't about the story, but it's about leveling up your character enough to play the next level of demanding multiplayer content.

The game also received the interest of WoW players after Asmongold, perhaps the most popular WoW streamer began playing FFXIV. The game's popularity has reportedly increased since then as content creators began taking a look. With all of these variables in play, it's natural that FFXIV could see a resurgence.

Did FFXIV Really kill WoW?

Some gamers claim that "FFXIV ended WoW" however, this assertion isn't quite as true. Director of FFXIV, Naoki Yoshida, has stated explicitly that his game wouldn't be possible without the foundation WoW established for players in the MMO community.

In the course of researching this article, I contacted a handful of WoW players who decided to stay playing the game. There were a variety of reasons for this however the most commonly mentioned ones were the large PvP community and the greater level of skill required to run difficult content. These very factors, which led some players to FFXIV were also some of the reasons that kept other players playing WoW.

With the next expansion for FFXIV, Endwalker, being scheduled for release this November, gamers old and old are upgrading their characters ahead of the most recent content. In the months ahead I'm eager about how the player base grows and changes with the increase in new players. At the time of writing this piece, Blizzard has been hit with a lawsuit claiming discrimination and harassment of sexual nature. Along with the complaints about Blizzard from its player base which already exists I'm sure that this lawsuit will further drive more people in to join the FFXIV community.

The more fun the better! The FFXIV community, including myself, has proven that we are enthusiastic and eager to welcome new players. So, keep coming in droves! If you're willing to take on Final Fantasy XIV and the prize-winning expansion Heavensward up to the level of 60. you'll have no limits on the time of play... You know what you can do!
